Frequently Asked Questions

What protocols do you support?

We support SIP for all origination and termination services.

What codecs do you support?

We support G.711 and G.729 for all origination and termination services.

How good will my connection be?

Try it out. You can ping our proxies at the following addresses:

sip.sellvoip.net

If your performance is not up to par on our current servers, please contact us with your IP address so we can ensure our future connections serve your needs.

We think you will notice our servers have very high quality connectivity. All of our IP space is provided by Internap. We utilize the following providers for our bandwidth (Level 3, Colt, FLAG, AT&T, Savvis, Global Crossing, Sprint, UUnet, T-System, Cable & Wireless, Cogent, and Verio)

How reliable will my DID's be?

Each of our proxies back each other up for added redundancy. For instance, if New York goes offline and your DID normally originates from there, it would automatically be sent from an alternate proxy (Seattle, Miami, etc) to ensure you receive the call. If the problem resides on your side (power outage, hardware failure, etc) we can forward DID's to an alternate proxy or PSTN number.

How can I view my usage and balance?

You will get access to a real time CDR portal which will show your account activity and balance and allow you to add funds. We also offer realtime provisioning of additional proxies and DIDs.

What makes you a good choice for our voice traffic?

Business class service: We strive to provide business class service and not consumer class service. We directly hand off and receive all of our traffic to carriers in our facilities. We do not hot potato the traffic to the cheapest off-net provider to save money.

Why do you require prepayment?

We have been in the telecom business since 1997. We have learned over time prepayment is the best method to get started. We may extend credit terms to qualified customers who are based in the U.S. You must be an established business with references and have a Dunn and Bradstreet number with a history of solid credit.

Can I get help setting things up?

At this time we will do our best to respond to your support tickets and emails, even if it is just to politely say we cannot help. We do have sample configurations to help you get started. These are available on our customer portal.

Can I port my DID number to you?

Yes, we currently offer DID porting services. Single DID's are charged a $20.00 porting fee. If you have a large number of DIDs, please contact us for a quote.

Can I port my toll-free number to you?

Yes. As above, the fee per DID is $20.00 and we will happily provide a quote for a large order.

How does the SellVOIP Module for Trixbox work?

Please review the documentation at http://www.sellvoip.net/trixbox
Note: The module does not support the latest version of Trixbox

Do you recommend SIP or IAX?

Given the choice, we recommend SIP. SIP is a more widely-used protocol, and as such is supported by a majority of load balancers. The reasoning for the creation of IAX was to overcome some of the limitations in SIP. Since the introduction of IAX, the SIP protocol and implementation in Asterisk have come a long way. We feel SIP offers our customers a better experience.
